UniHub Carpool is a ridesharing platform built for students, connecting UTA and DFW area commuters with affordable carpools. We leverage technology to fill empty seats on the road, making travel more affordable, sociable, and convenient for university students and young professionals.

Our Purpose

Our ridesharing network aims to help reduce traffic congestions and build sustainable future of transportation with ecofriendly commutes and reducing co2 emissions. We created UniHub Carpool to make shared transportation convenient, affordable, and eco friendly by connecting riders and drivers in your community.

Carpool

We are a cost-sharing platform, not a commercial transportation service. Drivers on our platform share rides to offset their personal travel expenses such as gas, tolls, and parking fees & not to earn a profit. Passengers contribute fairly toward these shared costs, making travel affordable for everyone.

We operate as a peer-to-peer carpooling platform:

  • No profit motive: Drivers share costs, not earn income. Contributions cover only actual travel expenses.
  • Pre-planned trips: Drivers offer rides they're already taking, they don't drive specifically to transport passengers for hire.
  • Shared purpose: Both driver and passenger benefit from reduced costs, less traffic, and lower carbon emissions.

How we calculate fair pricing: Our platform caps ride contributions using the IRS standard mileage rate ($0.70/mile for 2024), which covers gas, maintenance, depreciation, insurance, and all vehicle operating costs. This ensures drivers recover their fair share of expenses without profiting, while riders pay a transparent, government-backed rate. The cost is split between all passengers and the driver — the more people ride together, the less everyone pays.

How We Started for UTA Mavericks

UniHub Carpool was founded by UTA students who understood the daily transportation challenges faced by fellow Mavericks from getting to campus, traveling to DFW Airport for breaks, commuting to internships and finding reliable rides when you need them most.

We wanted to create a trusted community of verified Mavericks who help each other travel safely and affordably. Whether you're heading to campus, the airport, or anywhere in the DFW area - we want you to feel like you're riding with people from your own university community.

Every user must verify their email address to effectively communicate within the platform. We encourage using student emails to build campus trust and get identified as a Mavericks or student.

Phone verification via SMS ensures real users. Verified phone numbers help drivers and riders connect securely.
